Company History

Geartner Associates was originally formed in Florida in 1955. Jack Geartner, Hilton Geartner's grandfather, was working in New York as the National Sales Manager of the original Emerson Radio Corporation. Due to his wife's health doctors recommended he move to a warmer climate. He chose Florida. In the 50's consumer electronics were in their infant stages however electronics for the military and space program were moving forward rapidly. That was the original focus of Geartner Associates. As time went on Herb Geartner, Hilton Geartner's father moved to central Florida in 1957 to work the northern portion of the state for Geartner Associates. Over the years the natural progression took the company into the consumer electronics business. Several well known brands that we now know which Geartner Associates pioneered include Panasonic, Casio and many, many other top brands. When Panasonic stopped using representative's part of the separation agreement was to change the name of the company since the dealers associated Geartner Associates with Panasonic. Herb Geartner, Clark Geartner and Jack Geartner continued in the business under a new company name. Clark Geartner still represents many popular electronics lines in Florida today. As time went on Hilton Geartner worked for Jack and Clark Geartner for many years and then branched out to work as a regional manager for a manufacturer. He got back into the manufacturers rep business in 1984 forming Geartner Associates with offices in Atlanta, covering the Southeast and offices in Florida. In 1996 Just In Time Distributors was created to address the needs of a changing marketplace and our Geartner Associates customers. In less than five years Just In Time Distributors became recognized as the leading distributor in the Custom Installation industry. In 1999 Just In Time partnered with AVAD, the alliance of value added distributors. AVAD consists of 12 regional distributors that blanket the country. This national company presence gave Just In Time buying power and shared resources to insure economies of scale and enabled us to bring products and services to the market faster and more profitably. In 2005 Just In Time was acquired by Ingram Micro. Technology never stops and as a company, Geartner Associates is the conduit to the market place for technology developed for residential applications. Home networking, home entertainment, automation, lighting controls, phone systems, satellite systems, broadband distribution and system integration is our product mix.
